Restoration & Treatment

Cleanings/Check ups:

Complete check ups are very important to determine your dental health and treatment needed.  Examinations include but are not limited to, x-rays, oral cancer screen, periodontal screening, blood pressure, TMJ, and detection of dental caries.

During your initial evaluation, we will determine your periodontal status and schedule your appointment accordingly.

Dentures:

There are different types of dentures available.  Some are placed immediately following tooth extractions to avoid going without your teeth. Conventional dentures are made after teeth have been extracted and the tissue has healed (which can take several months).  The denture with the best retention are implant supported dentures.   Here at Dr. Polgar's, we will evaluate the type of denture best for you.

Fillings:

Here at Dr. Polgar's office we no longer place amalgam restorations which contain mercury. We use tooth colored composite material which bonds to the tooth.
A dental restoration or composite is a dental restorative material used to restore the function, integrity of missing tooth structure. The structural loss typically results from decay or external trauma. It is also lost intentionally during tooth preparation to improve the aesthetics or the physical integrity of the intended restorative material.

Oral Surgery:

All stages of surgeries are done by our office including simple extractions, wisdom teeth and biopsies. We work very closely with oral surgeons and never hesitate to refer out on complicated surgeries, second opinions or those patients who prefer general anesthesia.

Root Canals:

Root Canal therapy may be recommended due to an inflamed pulp (nerve), infection (abscess), fractured tooth, extensive decay and or lack of solid tooth structure. Root canal is a treatment used to prevent the tooth from being extracted. Endodontic therapy is 90% effective. After a root canal there is no longer blood supply to the tooth and the tooth can become brittle and may fracture. It is recommended that you restore the tooth with a permanent restoration (post & core) and/or a full crown to preserve it's longevity.

Laser:

Dr. Polgar is certified with the Dental Diode Laser System. The laser is used to increase patient comfort in many surgical dental procedures.

The Laser is generally indicated for incision, excision, vaporization, ablation and coagulation of oral soft tissue include the following:

  • Gingivectomy
  • Excisional and incisional biopsies
  • Frenectomy
  • Pulpotomy
  • Reduction of gingival hypertrophy
  • Soft tissue crown lengthening
  • Treatment of cancer sores, herpetic and aphthous ulcers of the oral muosa

Laser periodontal procedures including:

Laser removal of diseased, infected, inflamed, and necrosed soft tissue within the periodontal pocket.

At your next visit, feel free to ask Dr.Polgar if the Dental Laser is recommended for your treatment.
